Pick a color from a website

Open any website in another tab, share that tab for a single still frame and pick its exact colors with the magnifier, or drop a screenshot of it. Nothing leaves your device.

Open the website in another tab, then share that tab. We grab one still frame and stop sharing immediately.

Picked colors

Colors you pick show up here. Pick as many as you like. They stay here until you import or clear them.

Opens the editor and adds these colors as one group, with names, shades, contrast checks and code export.

How it works

  1. The website color picker with an address field and the Share tab & capture button

1Open the website and share its tab

Type the address to open it in a new tab, then press “Share tab & capture” and choose that tab. We take one still frame and stop sharing right away.

  2. The website zoomed in with the magnifier showing the pixel grid and the HEX value under the cursor

    2Zoom in and pick

Press “Pick a color”, then click any spot of the website. On a phone, drag and lift your finger. The magnifier shows the pixels around your target, so you hit the exact color.

  3. A grid of picked color swatches with HEX codes and color names

    3Collect your colors

Every pick lands in the grid below with its HEX code and name. Pick as many as you like, copy them or remove the ones you don't need.

  4. The PickXColor editor showing the imported colors as a named group of cards

    4Open them in the editor

Press “Import into PickXColor editor” to add all colors as one group, with names, shades, contrast checks and code export.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I share a tab instead of typing a URL?

Loading another website's pixels from a URL would need a server that visits the site for you, which means sending the address elsewhere. Sharing a tab keeps everything in your browser, and it captures exactly what you see: your login, your dark mode, your window size.

Is it privacy-safe and GDPR-compliant?

Yes. Your website capture is opened and processed entirely in your browser. It is never uploaded, stored or sent to a server, and we never see it. There's no account, no tracking and no cookies, and the tool pages don't load anything from third parties. Because none of your file data reaches us, there is no personal data from it that we could process.

The colors you pick are kept in your browser's local storage, so they survive a reload. Clear them with the Clear button or by deleting this site's data.

Is it safe to use?

Yes. Nothing is installed and your file is only read, never changed. Sharing only starts when you choose a tab in your browser's own dialog, and we stop it right after grabbing one still frame. The browser's sharing indicator goes away immediately. You can check it yourself: open your browser's developer tools on the Network tab while you work: your file never shows up in a request.

Which browsers support sharing a tab?

Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave and Firefox on computers support it; Safari on macOS can share windows. Phones and tablets can't share tabs with websites. Take a screenshot and drop it here instead; it works the same way.

Can I get the exact CSS colors of a website?

The capture shows the rendered pixels, so flat areas like buttons, backgrounds and text give you their exact CSS color. Gradients, shadows and images give the color at that exact pixel.

How accurate are the colors?

The eyedropper reads the exact value of the pixel you pick, as your browser decoded it, in sRGB. Zoom in until the pixel grid appears and you can see every single pixel, including noise, compression artifacts and anti-aliased edges, before you pick.

What can I do with the picked colors?

Copy all HEX codes at once, or press “Import into PickXColor editor”. The editor adds them as one named group on an infinite board, with human color names, HEX, RGB, HSL, OKLCH and CMYK values, Tailwind-style shades, WCAG contrast checks and code export for CSS, Tailwind, SCSS, Swift and Jetpack Compose.

Is it free?

Yes. It's free with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many colors you pick.
