Picked colors

Colors you pick show up here. Pick as many as you like. They stay here until you import or clear them.

Opens the editor and adds these colors as one group, with names, shades, contrast checks and code export.

How it works

  1. The empty image color picker with a drop area and a Choose file button

    1Drop your image

Drag a PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF or HEIC file onto the page, choose it, or paste a screenshot with ⌘V / Ctrl+V. It opens instantly, on your device.

  2. The image zoomed in with the magnifier showing the pixel grid and the HEX value under the cursor

    2Zoom in and pick

Press “Pick a color”, then click any spot of the image. On a phone, drag and lift your finger. The magnifier shows the pixels around your target, so you hit the exact color.

  3. A grid of picked color swatches with HEX codes and color names

    3Collect your colors

Every pick lands in the grid below with its HEX code and name. Pick as many as you like, copy them or remove the ones you don't need.

  4. The PickXColor editor showing the imported colors as a named group of cards

    4Open them in the editor

Press “Import into PickXColor editor” to add all colors as one group, with names, shades, contrast checks and code export.

Frequently asked questions

Is it privacy-safe and GDPR-compliant?

Yes. Your image is opened and processed entirely in your browser. It is never uploaded, stored or sent to a server, and we never see it. There's no account, no tracking and no cookies, and the tool pages don't load anything from third parties. Because none of your file data reaches us, there is no personal data from it that we could process.

The colors you pick are kept in your browser's local storage, so they survive a reload. Clear them with the Clear button or by deleting this site's data.

Is it safe to use?

Yes. Nothing is installed and your file is only read, never changed. Images are decoded by your browser's own image decoder, the same one that shows pictures on any website. You can check it yourself: open your browser's developer tools on the Network tab while you work: your file never shows up in a request.

Which image formats are supported?

PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, BMP and ICO work in every modern browser. HEIC/HEIF photos from iPhones open in Safari; TIFF opens in Safari too. In other browsers, export those as JPEG or PNG first. For SVG logos, use the SVG & Illustrator tool, which also lists the exact colors defined in the file.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Tap “Pick a color”, then put your finger on the image and drag. The magnifier floats above your finger, so you always see the pixels you're aiming at; lift your finger to pick. Pinch with two fingers to zoom in.

How accurate are the colors?

The eyedropper reads the exact value of the pixel you pick, as your browser decoded it, in sRGB. Zoom in until the pixel grid appears and you can see every single pixel, including noise, compression artifacts and anti-aliased edges, before you pick.

How large can the image be?

Very large: images up to about 16 megapixels open at full resolution. Bigger images are scaled down to fit your browser's canvas limit, and the toolbar tells you when that happened.

What can I do with the picked colors?

Copy all HEX codes at once, or press “Import into PickXColor editor”. The editor adds them as one named group on an infinite board, with human color names, HEX, RGB, HSL, OKLCH and CMYK values, Tailwind-style shades, WCAG contrast checks and code export for CSS, Tailwind, SCSS, Swift and Jetpack Compose.

Is it free?

Yes. It's free with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many colors you pick.
